Rhodes State has been awarded a Choose Ohio First (COF) Scholarship grant by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.  The grant provides scholarships to students majoring in disciplines that significantly strengthen Ohio’s competitiveness in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine (STEMM) education and industry.

The competitive COF scholarships will be awarded to high achieving students enrolling in a COF-eligible program at Rhodes State. Minimum awards are $1500 per year for students pursuing an Associate’s Degree and $500 per year for students pursuing a certificate.

To be eligible for COF scholarships students must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete a Rhodes State College application
  • Complete a FAFSA
  • An Ohio resident with the current legal status to remain permanently in the United States.
  • Cumulative 2.0 grade point average (GPA) or higher on a 4.0 GPA scale, based on high school, transfer, or Rhodes State transfer transcript
  • Placement test scores that demonstrate college-ready status. Or minimum ACT scores of Math 21, Science 20, and English 18 or Reading 22.
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credits of college-level classes listed in the curriculum for the student’s major
  • Available to attend and participate in Choose Ohio First activities such as Career Advancement Seminars and structured conversations around topics such as transfer planning (requirements accumulate to approximately 5 hours of time commitment per semester).
  • Declared major in an approved COF-eligible STEMM discipline– listed below
