Due to critically low temperatures, Rhodes State College will be closed on Tuesday, January 21. This includes clinicals, labs, classes, and services. Click Here for more details.

The Dental Hygiene Clinic is located on the first floor of Cook Hall, Room 126 (next to the library). Designated patient parking spaces are located southwest of Cook Hall in parking lot K and are handicap accessible.

The preventive services are performed by a dental hygiene student under the supervision of licensed dental hygienists and dentists. All Rhodes State College Dental Hygiene students are nurtured in their education by licensed, experienced oral health professionals.

Preventive Services Provided

  • Health screenings including social, medical, dental histories
  • Examination of mouth
  • Oral health instructions (receive toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste)
  • Xrays of teeth
  • Cleaning of teeth
  • Fluoride treatment
  • Topical and/or local anesthetic as needed
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Cleaning of dentures/partials
  • Dental sealants

Becoming a Patient

The clinic is open from September through April to interested community adults and children 4 years of age and older. Clinic hours vary each semester. Please contact the Dental Hygiene receptionist at (419) 995-8346 to schedule your appointment.

Please note: All appointments must be made in advance. Because services are performed by the students, and carefully evaluated by instructors, the treatment process proceeds at a much slower pace than a typical dental office. Depending on the service selected, patients can experience multiple visits with a 1½ to 3½ hour process.
