The goal of tutoring is to encourage students to develop skills, strategies, and attitudes necessary to reach their academic goals. Tutors provide help in specific course material while integrating study and learning strategies to promote independent learning. All tutoring services at Rhodes State College are offered to students free of charge and are available for most general education courses and for many technical courses.
To better serve students, tutoring services can be found in the Life and Physical Sciences building, as well as in an online environment:
- Tutor.com is available 24/7 for drop-ins or appointments and is accessible from the left side menu in all Canvas courses and communities. Instructions for accessing the service are available via video or the how-to guide for Tutor.com.
- Technical Support for Tutor.com is available online or at studentsupport@tutor.com 24/7.
- On-Campus Tutors are available in the Science Building, Room 240.
- The Ohio eTutoring Consortium is available as an online alternative to Tutor.com.
In addition to working with students on course-specific topics, tutors are available to guide students in strategies and techniques for being successful in college. Tutors can help in many ways, such as learning new ways to prepare for and take tests, finding out how to get the most out of classroom lectures, or discovering effective ways to manage time.
Faculty members have access to a Tutor.com dashboard and analytics, which provide information on which students have utilized tutoring and the topics covered.
