High school students can now earn a Patient Care Technician certification from Rhodes State College while simultaneously receiving 12 high school credits toward their graduation requirements! This is a great opportunity for high school students to receive education and training in a targeted health care profession.

This two-year program is specifically designed for high school juniors and seniors from Delphos Jefferson, Delphos St. John, Elida, Fort Jennings, Lincolnview, Miller City, Ottoville and Spencerville school districts. Across the program, 24 students will be selected to participate in the Patient Care Technician program with hands on training in technical skills at the Career Connections facility at Delphos Jefferson.  Students will also participate in job shadowing experiences at Lima Memorial Health Systems and Mercy Health St. Rita’s.

The Patient Care Technician will be delivered in a cohort. A learning cohort is a group who will progress through this educational experience together. The type of learning encourages participation by fostering familiarity, which allows students to find study groups or partners that benefit their education.

Required Coursework is delivered in two semesters. All classes/lectures are delivered online.  Students will need to take a lab each semester. This lab will be held from 12:00pm to 3:00pm on Thursdays at the Career Connections Facility at Delphos Jefferson.
