The Tutoring Center offers Peer Tutor Positions: students must have completed a FAFSA through the Financial Aid office (PS 150), and registered with College Central Network through the Career Development Office (PS 150). Before they can be interviewed instructions can be found below.

Become a Peer Tutor

The goal of the tutor is to encourage students to develop skills, strategies, and attitudes necessary to reach their academic goals. Peer tutors work with individuals or small groups in the Tutoring Center. Peer tutors may also be asked to visit courses each semester to give tutoring information to students.

Peer tutors must complete a training program within their first semester of working in the Center. Trainings are done in person at least twice a semester and include online lessons throughout the semester.

Requirements:

  • Grade of A or B in the course(s) you wish to tutor
    (course must have been taken within the past two years)
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester
    (or 3 credit hours during Summer term)
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation (faculty)
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Successful completion of CPT 1040 or higher
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and basic computer applications
