Rhodes State Student Named New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar

Rhodes State College student, Torie Bockey has been named a 2022 New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar and will receive a significant scholarship.  This program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Foundation and the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, with additional support provided by the American Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa.

The Spencerville, Ohio, native was recognized at the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Award Ceremony on May 2nd in New York City.

Torie was selected from among 2,000 nominations across the country. Factors that lead to her award include academic accomplishments, leadership, activities, and how they extend their intellectual talents beyond the classroom. A significant factor is her extracurricular work through her local 4-H Association, where she developed a mentorship program for young women. She was also chosen for her score earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition. Torie was the top scoring student from Ohio.

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of community college students to grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 nations.
