Rhodes State College Selected in First Cohort of Collegiate Purple Star Campuses

Rhodes State College was recently designated as a Collegiate Purple Star Award recipient. The Ohio Department of Higher Education’s (ODHE) Purple Star Advisory Board recognizes colleges that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military.

“I commend Rhodes State College for its efforts to support its veteran and service member students and families and am pleased to have them among our very first Collegiate Purple Star recipients,” said ODHE Chancellor, Randy Gardner.

Veterans at Rhodes State College receive priority registration and transfer credits for their prior experience. In addition to this, the College is committed to the eight keys to veteran’s success and the principles of excellence that are set forth by the U. S. Department of Education and the Office of Veteran’s Affairs, respectively.

Rhodes State College was honored with this award because it completed the requirements set forth by ODHE, some of which are as follows:

·         Establish a dedicated point of contact for veterans and service members.

·         Establish priority registration for veterans and service members.

·         Establish a process for the acceptance of military credit toward academic programs.

·         Implement a training program on military-connected student issues for faculty and staff.
