Rhodes State College Announces the 2022 Outstanding Alumni Award Winner

The 2022 Rhodes State College Outstanding Alumni Award recipient is Dr. Ann Pohl. Dr. Pohl has dedicated her career to the service of our community through her career in healthcare at Lima Memorial Health System (LMHS) and volunteerism in the community and at Rhodes State College. The Outstanding Alumni Award presentation will take place at the Rhodes State College Commencement ceremonies on May 7, 2022.

Dr. Pohl is the Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Executive at LMHS. After earning two degrees, with honors, from Lima Technical College (LTC) in Respiratory Care – 1989 and Nursing – 1995, she went on to attain her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Bowling Green State University in 1997, her master’s degree in Nursing with a Leadership Focus from Drexel University in 2010, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice – Executive Leadership from Quinnipiac University in 2017.

“The experience and time that I spent at LTC provided me with a strong foundation for my healthcare career, it was the knowledge that I received and the experiences that I had while at LTC that have truly helped to shape me into the healthcare professional that I have become,” she said. “Today, I proudly serve as the Chief Nurse Executive at LMHS and have continued my lifelong learning journey. That lifelong learning concept was instilled in me during my time at LTC.”

Dr. Pohl’s commitment to Rhodes State College has continued since her time spent on the campus as a student. Since 2018, she has been a Board Member of the Rhodes State College Foundation. In 2022, Dr. Pohl was appointed to serve on the Rhodes State College Board of Trustees to provide visionary leadership and governance.

“I was the recipient of an act of kindness from a community who supported me and helped to set me up for a successful career,” she said. “If somehow, I can do something in kind for someone else’s future, inspire someone to continue lifelong learning, give someone the nudge that there’s help to start a new career….perhaps, in turn, down the road, that person will do the same. I am fortunate to be in a position to help lift others up and give back.”

Not only has Dr. Pohl served in healthcare and at Rhodes State College, but she has also been an impactful leader among many community organizations. She has served as a Board Member for the American Heart Association-Allen County, the Northwest Ohio Literacy Council, and the American Academy of Cardiovascular Medical Administrators.  She has been an Associate of the American College of Cardiology Cardiac Care, a Professional Member of the American Heart Association, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau (Zeta Theta Chapter). Currently, Dr. Pohl currently serves as a member of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders, the American Nurses Association, the Ohio Organization of Nurse Leaders, and the Ohio Nurses Association.
