LIMA, Ohio, August 10, 2020 – Lt. Governor, Jon Husted announced last week, that a fifth round of TechCred applications would be accepted by the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation. Rhodes State College is pleased to announce that the College is strategically equipped and situated to meet the upskill training and credentialing needs of employers applying for the TechCred funding across the region. Employers can submit their number of needed, credentialed employees to the state by August 31 and have these current and incoming employees trained at RSC.
GROB Systems, Inc. is one company that has already taken advantage of the excellent training offered by Rhodes State and the funding offered through the TechCred initiative.
“GROB is appreciative of our partner, Rhodes State College, for offering numerous industry-recognized certificates that our apprentices can earn,” said Dean Kales, Training Coordinator at GROB. “These certificates have allowed us to utilize TechCred funding, thus helping upskill our workforce.”
Rhodes State is committed to making the TechCred program accessible for companies of any size. Because reimbursement of up to $2000 per employee or $30,000 per funding period is available to employers once training and payment is completed, Rhodes State staff will work with each company, one-on-one, to create an affordable payment plan. Companies can spread out payments over the term of the program if paying upfront is not a viable option. Once final payments are made, Rhodes State will provide a “proof of payment,” so each company can receive their reimbursement.
Rhodes State offers certificates that qualify for the TechCred program in the following areas: Manufacturing Technology, IoT and Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Robotics/Automation, Business Technology, and Construction Technology. New and incoming employees may also identify multiple credentials for which to be trained during the application period.
According to a press release from the Lt. Governor on August 4, 2020, “As of today, 302 new Ohio employers were approved for funding, which will result in up to 3,241 credentials that will help upskill Ohio workers. With these recent approvals announced by the Lt. Governor, a total of 695 Ohio employers have been allocated funding through the first four rounds; supporting 7,473 technology-focused credentials to be earned by Ohio employees.”
