Sterile Processing Technicians help prevent patient infections by decontaminating, cleaning, processing, assembling, sterilizing, storing and distributing the equipment, instruments, and supplies used in surgery and other parts of the hospital. They may work in a hospital, an ambulatory surgery center, doctors' offices, in medical sales, medical laboratories, and other fields.
In general, Sterile Processing Technicians work in a centralized location outside the operating room, though this varies by location. The work environment is good for you if you like a very active and highly organized atmosphere with a lot of action.
