Computer Numerical Control Certificate Overview

A career in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) involves working with machines that are controlled by computers to manufacture parts and components with high precision. CNC machines are automated tools that use pre-programmed sequences of commands (G-code) to control the movement of cutting tools and other machinery. They can perform tasks like cutting, drilling, milling, and shaping various materials such as metal, wood, plastics, foam, glass, and composite. This process will transform raw materials into finished precision products. Parts are built for almost every industry, including medical, electrical, mechanical, aerospace and more.

Some examples include:

  • Precision surgical instruments
  • Surgical implant components such as hips and knee joints
  • Guitars and other musical instruments
  • Auto and aircraft parts
  • Parts for consumer electronics and appliances

If an industry needs to manufacture a precision part or component, CNC machines are used in making them.

Program Highlights

  • Find local employment at one of the many facilities in our 10-county service area
  • Students will learn on 3,4, and 5 axis CNC machines in the program
  • All classes can directly transfer into an Associate of Applied Science degree in on of our Engineering Technology programs.
