Rhodes State College (RSC) can offer the Rhodes in Motion – Behavioral Health Community Awareness Series as part of the Behavioral Health Workforce Grant. Within this series, the RSC Mobile Lab will travel to provide learning opportunities to area high schools and behavioral health organizations to deliver chosen behavioral health-related presentations including these five major areas: Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being, Healthy Relationships, Life Management Skills, Substance Use, and Social Health. For high schools, it is the high school’s responsibility to inform parents of the topics discussed in these workshops and seek parental approval, if applicable.

Understanding Mental Health
This workshop provides a general understanding of mental health and its importance, the difference between mental health and mental illness, common mental health illnesses, and a discussion on mental health stigma.

Self-Care & Wellness
This workshop aims to help you define self-care and understand its importance to how it relates to your overall wellness. You will learn about the eight dimensions of wellness, complete assessments to have you think about your self-care and wellness behaviors, and take the time to put it all together to create a personal self-care plan.

Managing Stress & Anxiety
This workshop discusses stress, anxiety, and its effects on your body and behavior. You will learn about skills and behaviors that can help reduce your stress. We will further discuss anxiety, addressing triggers, cognitive restructuring, and the overall understanding of anxiety.

Suicide Prevention
This is an effective and highly utilized QPR suicide prevention training. This training covers common causes of suicidal behavior, warning signs, using the Question, Persuade, & Refer method to assist someone who may be suicidal, and how to get help for someone in a crisis.
Time Frame: 1 hour and 30 minutes; a presentation can be tailored to meet the needs of the high school however participants would not be eligible for the QPR certificate

Building Healthy Relationships
This workshop discusses behaviors of healthy and unhealthy relationships. You will learn the foundations of a healthy relationship, how we deal with our feelings, and how to communicate within a healthy relationship will be discussed in this workshop.

Red Flag/Green Flag
Using the Red Flag/Green Flag game, we will discuss dating. We will read scenarios and share opinions on whether these situations are healthy or unhealthy.
