Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Friday: 8:30 am - Noon.

Esports Club

ATTENTION! Rhodes State College's Esports Club will start meeting on Monday, February 5, starting at 4:00 pm in the Esports Gaming Center located in SCI 151! See you then! If you have any questions, please contact Skylar Shaffer at shaffer.s@rhodesstate.edu.

Students, come join our Esports Club team where you can compete against other club teams from around the country. There will be plenty of games to choose from such as: Mario Cart, Super Smash Bros, League of Legends, Rocket League, Call of Duty, Fortnite, Madden, Fifa, and many more. The club will meet in person at minimum once a week. If interested or have any questions please contact Skylar Shaffer at shaffer.s@rhodesstate.edu.

Team Matrix

Rhodes State College will be establishing Team Matrix, a competitive Esports team. Information on when and where tryouts will take place will be coming soon.

Esports Certificate

Esports is a multi-billion-dollar industry with a viewership higher than any sport except the NFL. Rhodes State College offers a 16-credit hour certificate for those interested in the Esports industry. The Esports Management & Coaching certificate consists of six courses and in ESP1900 Esports Coaching Application, students will collaborate with a local Esports team to manage and coach players. Students are also introduced to an ecosystem of careers that surround this exciting business. Those who complete this certificate have a pathway to the Associate Degree in Business Administration. This certificate is offered 100% online, and is financial aid eligible. Click on Esports Management & Coaching to learn more and request information.

Esports (also known as electronic sports, e-sports, or eSports) is a type of competitive sport using video games. Esports is a growing industry projected to be valued at $1.4 billion.

The Esports center is where Rhodes State students, faculty, and staff can go to play Esports games, virtual reality, and watch others play.

Oculus Virtual Reality and Hand controls

A complete list of apps will be available. There will be apps for exercising, educational activities (math and communication), and gaming apps. 

Gamers will be allowed to bring their personal equipment to use with the consoles and will be required to sign a “Use of Personal Equipment” agreement, which states the College is not liable for any damage and/or lost/stolen personal equipment while in the gaming area.
