Executive orders and the powers of the President are current issues being discussed and debated in the news. The powers of the branches of government have evolved over time according to the needs of the era and constitutional interpretation. In this session we will explore
• What is an executive order?
• Where did they originate?
• How have they been used?
• What are their limits?
• What has been their role in the modern Presidency?
We will also examine the roles and power of the President and the history of how branches of the government assert their powers under the Constitution.
This talk is intended for anyone who may have questions or curiosity about the topic. It will not advocate or oppose any candidate or President. This is educational and will provide historical context and information about U.S. History and the Constitution.
