LIMA, Ohio October 9, 2024-- Rhodes State College is excited to announce a generous grant from the Gene Haas Foundation dedicated to fostering skills in the machining industry. The funding will provide scholarships for students pursuing CNC machining technology, waiving registration fees for select mini-camps and bootcamps until capacity is reached.
The grant will enhance Rhodes State College’s Rhodesology and Pre-College programs, which are designed to introduce young minds to the dynamic career opportunities within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. By engaging youth through hands-on experiences, these programs aim to spark interest in engineering and technology, crucial areas that drive innovation and economic growth.
"The Gene Haas Foundation's support is invaluable in helping us nurture the next generation of leaders in CNC machining," said Ashley Hunter, Coordinator, Youth Community and Continuing Education. "By providing scholarships and waiving fees, we are removing barriers for students and encouraging them to explore the vast potential within STEM careers."
The CNC Bootcamps funded by this grant will offer students immersive learning experiences, equipping them with essential skills for success in the manufacturing sector. Through collaboration with the Haas Foundation, Rhodes State College is committed to empowering students to become the innovators of tomorrow.
