You can remain competitive in today’s workforce by completing a degree or credential and Rhodes State can help you.  It is critical to the continued economic well-being of Ohio that more residents earn a degree or credential.  To reach this goal, the Ohio Department of Higher Education created the Second Chance Grant  for students previously enrolled who want to finish a degree or credential.

The ODHE will begin taking new applications after June 30, 2024

Award

  • $2,000 Second Chance Grant per semester for up to one year
  • Starts Fall Semester 2024
  • Grants will continue to be awarded on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted
  • Awarded on a first-come first-serve basis
  • Grants shall be applied against the student’s cost of attendance after any federal or state need-based grants have been accepted and applied
  • Students receiving state supported scholarships (Choose Ohio First Scholarship, Ohio Safety Officers College Memorial Fund, War Orphans and Severely Disabled Veterans’ Scholarship Program, or Ohio National Guard Scholarship) are not eligible for Second Chance grants
  • If any amount of the $2,000 Second Chance Grant remains after applying it to the student’s cost of attendance for the semester, the remaining balance shall be applied to next semester in which the student is enrolled and the Second Chance Grant program is operating
