Rhodes State to Award Full-Ride Fall Semester Scholarships

Rhodes State College has announced a new incentive for students who register for Fall 2021 classes. Beginning August 6, the College will award full-ride scholarships for the Fall semester to 15 students per week for three weeks, totaling 45 students. The scholarships will be used for tuition, books and course fees.
“Rhodes State recognizes that, during these times, accessing a high quality education may be difficult for many students,” said Dr. Brendan Greaney, Vice President of Enrollment Management. “With that in mind, we wanted to create an opportunity for students to start their journey at Rhodes without having to worry about how they would afford it.  Our hope is that by providing this scholarship, individuals who may have been on the fence about whether they could afford their education will make the leap and find out how Rhodes will go beyond their expectations.”
Since March 2020, Rhodes State has distributed federal relief funds to students, supplied needed computers and equipment for their course work, and now, with the help of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, will offer these full-ride, fall scholarships.
Jocelyn Miller, Coordinator of Student Connections is working closely with the new initiative. “We want to show that Rhodes goes beyond expectations when it comes to caring about our students, and we want to make a degree affordable and exciting,” she said. “The idea of a drawing to win a scholarship simply by registering for classes encourages students to be proactive in starting their future, and it makes them excited to come to Rhodes.”
The fall, full-ride scholarships will be available to both part-time and full-time students registering for at least six credit hours. Winners will be randomly selected by computer software, and the awards will be distributed to student accounts prior to the beginning of Fall semester on August 23. Prospective, new, and current students are encouraged to complete their enrollment applications and course registrations in order to be eligible for the scholarship drawing.
