Liberty Benton Students Learn About Manufacturing Systems at Rhodes State

LIMA, Ohio, April 15, 2021 – Liberty Benton students visited campus today as a part of their College Credit Plus class, Manufacturing Concepts, where they used manufacturing simulators to learn more about the processes in a manufacturing setting. This visit is a partnership between Rhodes State and the West Central Ohio Career Network which serves Liberty Benton, Sidney, Riverside and Indian Lake school districts.

This class is part of the Basic Manufacturing Certificate students can receive through this College Credit Plus program. Kitt Horn, Dean of K-12 Partnerships at Rhodes State, said “This is a great partnership between the two entities because Career Network is a positive choice that these high school students can make to explore educational and work alternatives, while receiving college credit in high school. This is the first step into a career pathway in manufacturing.”

The goal of Career Network is to increase the number of young people who complete high school, attain a post secondary credential valued in the labor market and get launched into a stable and satisfying career that can also provide the basis to pursue further education and career advancement. Career Network also connects students with job shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships offered in Logan, Hancock, and Shelby counties.

Additionally, in this class, students gain basic skills required by modern manufacturers in areas of community, mathematics, teaming, safety, workplace readiness, quality, and continuous improvement.
