Nurse Assistant Certificate Overview
When a student enrolls in the Nursing Assistant certificate program, they develop their skills to become essential members of a healthcare team, providing basic care to clients in need of assistance with activities of daily living. Common tasks a nursing assistant helps a patient do include basic care tasks like grooming, dressing, bathing, eating, and exercising. Nursing assistants work together with nursing staff with medical tasks like drawing blood, monitoring vitals, using medical equipment and reporting patient behavior and wellbeing.
The Nurse Assistant certificate program uses the Ohio Department of Health Standards and Guidelines as the curriculum. Students who successfully complete the program receive a certificate and are eligible to take the state test for nurse aides.
