Manufacturing Engineering Technology

The application of flexible manufacturing systems concepts to the totally automated factory will require technicians who are able to function in the world of robots, computerized numerical controlled machines, computer‑aided drafting and design, automated warehousing systems and the total flexible manufacturing network. Manufacturing Engineering Technology, offered under the Mechanical Engineering Technology program, is designed specifically to give students preparation for technician‑level employment in the fields of robotics, automated systems, and associated areas under the broad umbrella of flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). The major derives its curriculum content from a combination of course offerings from the Electronic Engineering Technology and the Mechanical Technology programs, with inclusion of four FMS technical studies courses, maintaining the same general studies and related studies currently required by those majors.
