The Human Resource Major provides the practical skills and theory necessary to enter or advance in the human resource department of a medium to large organization. Students prepare for generalist careers helping administer management practices, selection and placement, training and development, compensation and benefits, labor and employee relations, plus health, safety, and security. The topics included on the Professional Human Resource Generalists Certificate Examination are benchmarks used to assure the course offerings are relevant and recognized by employers. In addition, this major gives students the flexibility of a basic business foundation.

The Management and Marketing Program will provide quality education, while maintaining programs of study that prepare students for employment and promotion in Management, Marketing and related fields.

All business, both private and public, as well as non-profit and governmental agencies need employees skilled in both management and marketing. Employment opportunities for graduates in this major are diverse.

Rhodes State College 2009 Graduate Status Report

Students are encouraged to meet each term with their assigned academic advisor, faculty advisor or program chair to ensure appropriate sequencing of course work, planning for full-time or part-time course work, transferring to a four-year institution, or to address other educational questions. Each student must complete his/her degree with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 to be eligible for the Associate of Applied Business Degree.
