Board of Trustees

The legal authority for James A. Rhodes State College resides in its Board of Trustees. The board is composed of seven Allen County residents, five of whom are appointed to the board by a caucus of the city, county, and exempted village boards of education of Allen County, and two are appointed by the Governor. Full terms of appointment are for three years. The Board of Trustees of James A. Rhodes State College has legal, statutory, and fiduciary authority and responsibility for the college as defined in Chapter 3357 of the Ohio Revised Code.


WILFRED G. ELLIS, M.D. - Chair

Dr. Wilfred Ellis is currently the Chair of the Rhodes State College Board of Trustees and has served since 1996. He is the CEO of Infectious Diseases, Inc., Chair of Infection Control, Medical Director of the Wound Care Center at Lima Memorial Health Systems and Medical Director of Superior Home Healthcare, LLC. Dr. Ellis received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri and his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Biology from the University of Dayton. He supports the mission of the College through the Dr. Wilfred Ellis Multicultural Scholarship. In 2007, Dr. Ellis was inducted into the Hall of Honor at Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington D.C. and was awarded the Minority Businessman of the Year by the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce in 2006.

KEITH A. CUNNINGHAM, C.E.R.A. - Vice Chair

Mr. Cunningham has been a member of the Board since 2007 and is Special Project Manager with the Office of the Secretary of State. Prior to this position, Mr. Cunningham served as Director of the Allen County Board of Elections for 13 years. In 1987, he was elected to the Lima City Council where he served as Council President from 1993-1998. He is Vice Chair on the United States Election Assistance Commission Advisory Board and is on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Election Officials and the Ohio Association of Election Officials. Mr. Cunningham is a graduate of the Certified Election Registration Administrator program.

MARGARET (MICKI) STEVENSON VOLLMER - Board Secretary

Ms. Micki Vollmer has been a member of the Rhodes State College Board of Trustees since 2000, and she is currently Secretary of the Board. Since 1996, Ms. Vollmer has been Executive Director of the Allen Lima Leadership Program. She is a graduate of Leadership Ohio, Allen County Local Leadership Academy and a certified Realtor. Ms. Vollmer graduated from The Defiance College with a Bachelor of Science in Comprehensive Music Education and taught in the public school system for 15 years. Ms. Vollmer is also Chair of the newly established Ohio Association of Community College Trustee Engagement and Leadership Committee, under the guidance of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges.

KENNETH M. CLEMENS D.D.S.

Dr. Kenneth Clemens has continued his local dental practice while serving on the Rhodes State College Board of Trustees since 1981. Dr. Clemens has contributed to the mission of the College through his leadership in the establishment of the Dental Hygiene program on campus and the free or reduced-fee Clinic named after him and his wife Jean (The Dr. Kenneth and Jean Clemens Clinic). He was also on the Board when the Rhodes State College Foundation was established. Rhodes State College recognized Dr. Clemens in 2003 with an honorary Associate in Applied Science degree. He attended WVU and OSU as an undergrad and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1954.

JOHN PARADORE

Mr. Paradore has served on the Rhodes State College Board of Trustees since 2007 and was appointed by Governor Strickland. Since his retirement after 30 years at the Ford Motor Company’s Lima Engine Plant, Mr. Paradore has been serving as a consultant in the field of job retention and security, union, and family/work life issues. While at Ford, he worked with former Governor Voinovich in a collaborative effort to construct the UAW-Ford-Rhodes State Training Center. In 1995, as a result of his leadership in the development of the 36,000 square foot one-stop training center, he received the Ohio Governor’s Workforce Excellence Award.

EVERETT “BUTCH” KIRK III

Mr. Kirk was appointed to the Rhodes State College Board of Trustees in 2009. In 1977 he and his grandfather, Everett S. Kirk, Sr. founded the International Tank Service, Inc. As President, he focuses on developing new business and marketing. Mr. Kirk grew up in the Lima area, graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Business Administration, and is deeply involved in many community organizations including: Allen Lima Leadership, Boy Scouts of America, Lima Community Foundation, Lima Rotary Club, Lima Rotary Foundation, and the YMCA.

JANE KRITES

Since 2008, Ms. Krites has been Executive Vice President of the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. She began as a membership executive for the Girl Scouts 23 years ago and has since held a number of management roles within the organization. From 1991 to 2007, Ms. Krites was CEO of the Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge, and in 2007 to 2008, she played a key role in a merger with three other councils. Prior to the Girl Scouts, Krites worked as a nurse at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She earned an associate degree in Nursing from Lima Technical College, a B.S. in Business, and a Masters in Business & Organizational Leadership from Defiance College. Her community involvement includes the United Way of Greater Lima and the Rotary Club, and serves on the board of directors for St. Rita’s Medical Center. She has also served on the Foundation Board and Investment/Finance Committee at Rhodes State College. In 2009, Governor Ted Strickland appointed her to serve a three-year term on the Rhodes State College Board of Trustees.
