Rhodes State to host Annual IT/ET Day on Friday, April 5, 2019

WHAT: Rhodes State College Hosting Annual IT/ET Competition for Students
More than 130 junior and senior students from Apollo Career Center, Ohio Hi-Point, and Tri-Star will be on campus for the Annual IT/ET (Information Technology/Engineering Technology) Day to participate in various competitions giving the students the opportunity to interact with instructors, learn techniques and compete in various challenges.

WHEN: Friday April 5, 2019 from 9:30 am to 12Noon

WHERE: Rhodes State College, Main Campus: 4240 Campus Drive
James J. Countryman (JJC) and Keese Hall Buildings

Competitions include:

  • Electronic Challenge: A two-part challenge beginning with a multiple-choice assessment covering a wide area of topics related to the electronics field. Then, each participant will build a small project by soldering components onto a printed circuit board. (JJC 110)

  • Hill Climb: Students will compete to scale the 55 degree incline in the fastest time by building a balanced vehicle with the correct gear ratio. (JJC 172)

  • Networking Challenge: Configure a wireless ad-hoc sharing portal. (KH 261)

  • Tallest Tower: Teams will compete to see who can build the tallest self-supporting tower with the materials provided. (JJC 171)

  • Robotics Obstacle Course Challenge: Students will design, build, and program a robot to navigate an obstacle course. Students will use either autonomous robots or remote controlled during the competition. (JJC 173)
