Rhodes State College Receives Concrete Technology Scholarship Funds 2018

Ohio Concrete is pleased to announce the awarding of funds from its 33rd Annual Golf Outing and Annual Meeting to the Roger P. Jones Concrete Technology Scholarship at Rhodes State College. A check totaling $28,526.17 was presented at an Appreciation & Recognition of Ohio Concrete event on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the Keese Hall Multipurpose Center of Rhodes State College. This scholarship benefits students majoring in Concrete Technology. It was established in 2006 in honor of its retiring Executive Director, Roger P. Jones, founder of the Concrete Technology program at Rhodes State College. Mr. Jones shared his knowledge and was involved with the College as chair of the Concrete Technology Advisory Committee. Tours of the Roger P. Jones Concrete Technology Lab were available following the presentation.

About the Scholarship

Ohio Concrete established the Roger P. Jones Concrete Technology Scholarship in 2006 honoring its retiring Executive Director, Roger P. Jones, founder of the Concrete Technology program at Rhodes State College. Roger shared his knowledge and was involved with the College as chair of the Concrete Technology Advisory Committee. This scholarship benefits students majoring in Concrete Technology.

Since the 2001 – 2002 academic year, 124 scholarship awards totaling $134,950 have been given through the Roger P. Jones Concrete Technology Scholarship. In addition to the scholarships, students are able to attend professional conferences, such as World of Concrete, as well as regional professional associations.

For the 2017 – 2018 academic year, seven Concrete Technology students are receiving the scholarship. Up to 10 scholarship awards will be available for the 2018 – 2019 academic year.

About the Roger P. Jones Concrete Technology Lab (from the dedication plaque, May 6, 2005)

In 1995, Roger Jones, Director of the Ohio Ready Mixed Concrete Association (now Ohio Concrete) was instrumental in establishing the Concrete Technology Program at Rhodes State College. Along with the Association, he has personally and professionally supported the program by funding opportunities for program development and student assistance. In recognition of his service, leadership and vision to Rhodes State College and the Concrete Technology Program, we hereby dedicate this lab in his honor.

About the Rhodes State College Foundation

Founded in 1978, the Rhodes State College Foundation assists the College by developing partnerships and relationships with individuals, businesses and community organizations. The Foundation generates financial support to increase the College’s viability, enhance opportunities for students, and help provide more accessible and affordable education to current and future students. Foundation scholarship applications are available in the fall semester for the next academic year. Currently there are 58 endowed and annual scholarships established by individuals and organizations who value education and desire to assist Rhodes State students in the pursuit of transforming their lives. In the 2017 – 2018 academic year, the Rhodes State College Foundation scholarship awards are approximately $135,000.
