Lima, OH – With only a few weeks left in the season, Barons Womens Basketball finds itself with a record of 5 & 7 in ORCC play and hopes of reaching the .500 mark by the end of the season. This record is a great improvement over the 2011-12 season that unfortunately didn’t see a win for the Barons.
Leading the way for the Barons has been Sophomore Forward, Dionna Hurley. The Lima Senior High School product has an average of 21.6 points per game, and has led the Barons in scoring in every game she has played. In addition to Hurley, Freshman Guard Kaylee Hooker has also been a consistent contributor for the Barons as Hooker, a Hardin Northern graduate is averaging 10.5 points per game.
Barons Online talked with Coach Sensabaugh about the current season. “We are learning how to adjust to each other and as a team how to adjust to my style of coaching in my first year here. After coaching at the high school level for so many years, it has been a big adjustment for me to coach collegiately this year. This team is tough, and they are working hard, which really showed in the tough double overtime loss against OU Chillicothe early on. We do have five wins so far though, and we hope to get a few more before the season ends. Then we have the postseason, and we hope to play well there. The three girls on this team that played last year, never won a game, so the progress we’ve made this season has been extra special to them.”
The Barons are on the road the rest of this season with the ORC Tournament starting on February 16th on the campus of OU Lancaster.
