Lima, OH – Barons Mens Basketball is nearing the end of their regular season schedule which has been an up and down ride. The start of the season was tough going as the Barons faced top notch competition to better prepare for conference play. Unfortunately, they struggled to find success their first 7 contests. However, once the ORCC season started up, the team appeared to find it’s rhythm. But, that didn’t last long as numerous injuries led to another slide following the Holliday break. The team currently has a record of 3 & 9 in ORCC play, but still has some optimism heading in to post season play if they are able to get healthy in time.
Barons Online talked with Coach Pittman about the current season. “Our strength right now is that we work extremely hard and that the guys are willing to be coached. Even though at times we have struggled, our work ethic has never wavered. What has surprised me the most about this team has been our inability to knock down shots. We have several talented shooters, but for some reason this year, even when getting the open looks, we have not been able to knock them down like we should. Despite the struggles though, I feel like we have confidence in ourselves to finish this season strong and make a good showing in post season play. Hopefully, we can take the good feelings from plays like the last second play against Akron Wayne where Caleb Hodges passed the ball ¾ of the court to Craige Perry, who made a great catch and pass to Brady Schroeder to knock down a buzzer beating three to win. Plays like that, and of course getting healthy can build the momentum we need.”
The Barons have two remaining home games. The first is on February 7th vs UNOH at 7pm and the other is on February 12th vs Ivy Tech at 6:30 pm. All Barons home games are played in The Hangar. Come out and support your Barons!
