Half way through the year the Barons are marching on as one of the top teams in the ORCC. With a deceptive overall record of 8 wins and 12 losses, many of the 12 losses have come to very strong Division III, NAIA, and Junior College opponents such as Sinclair CC, Indiana Tech, Defiance College, Bluffton University, and MacMurray University.
The strength of the Barons has been their ability to find scoring from so many different players. Several times throughout the season they have had 4 or more score in double digits and they have also had 7 different players lead the team in scoring at least once in the first 20 games.
At this point in the season Ohio University Lancaster and Miami Middletown appear to be the front runners in the ORCC as Miami Middletown is still perfect in conference play at 9 & 0 and Ohio University Lancaster was standing at 6 & 1 as of the last report. The Barons lost to MU Middletown by 8 at Middletown and will have another shot at the Thunderhawks on January 29th. OU Lancaster is only on the Barons’ schedule once this season, and the Cougars slipped by the Barons that day with an 11 point victory.
There are still 6 ORCC contests on the Barons remaining schedule and it is still possible that the Barons could creep up and challenge for regular season championship and a high seed for the tournament. But, we’re sure it’s just one step at a time right now for Coach Q!
The Barons will be home on Monday, January 17th for a 7pm showdown with cross town NAIA rival UNOH. Come out and support your Barons. Admission is free to all Ohio State Lima/Rhodes State College students, faculty, and staff.
