Lima, OH – Barons baseball is off to a slow start as they are now 0 & 6 with losses to Clark State (W-10 & L-5, Berea College (W-12 & L-12), University of the Cumberlands (W-25 & L-10), and Ohio Northern University (W-10 & L-4). “We schedule the best competition we can to start off the year and know that if we don’t play good baseball we aren’t going to win. Right now, we are only playing good baseball part of the time and not putting a full game together” said Coach Abe Ambroza.
In 2 of the 6 losses the Barons have outhit their opponents, but just haven’t been getting the key hits with runners in scoring position. “I am seeing a lot of positive things despite our record. If we keep going to the plate with good approaches, we will begin to see the benefits sooner than later!” Ambroza also wanted to point out that a few of the younger Barons have just began to relax and get over the early jitters of playing college baseball, “We’ve got a lot of youth in our lineup every day. Once they learn for themselves that they belong on the field because they have the talent to do so, we’ll all see them start to perform even better.”
The Barons will finally have their first home games of the season this week with a 2pm doubleheader on Wednesday, 3/30/11 vs Rochester College, a 4:30pm game on Friday, 4/1/11 vs OSU Newark, and a 1pm doubleheader on Sunday, 4/3/11 vs Clark State CC.
