Program Title: “Ohio’s Mounds Are Works Of Art”
Program Description: New research has revealed that Ohio’s ancient American Indian earthen architecture “required a planned effort that incorporated site, preparation, sophisticated understanding of soil properties and considerable engineering skills.” Archaeologists Sarah Sherwood of Dickinson College will discuss the skill applied by the Ancient American Indian mound builders of Ohio and the comprehensive knowledge of the structure and availability of local geological materials in constructing these ancient archeological structures.
