Placement Testing General Policies

All students wishing to enroll at the College must submit a completed application for admissions to the Admissions Office. Students are then required to complete placement testing in the areas of writing, reading, and mathematics.

Placement testing is offered several times throughout each semester and during registration. Students must make an appointment with Testing Center to take the placement test.

Placement Testing Exceptions

Students providing the Admissions Office with a transcript or grade report from an accredited college or university which shows successful completion of an English and/or mathematics course may be exempt from taking all or part of the placement test.

Students not pursuing an associate degree or certificate, or not desiring to enroll in English or math courses may be exempt from taking all or part of the placement test. Example: A student wishing to enroll in a typing class for their own personal enrichment may bypass the placement testing.

Decisions regarding exemptions will be made by the Admissions Office, the appropriate Dean, and/or the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
