Tutors Ready For Service!

Tutorials

Free tutoring is available to enrolled Rhodes State College students on a walk-in basis in a variety of topics including: accounting, chemistry, computers, math, social sciences, writing (for any course with writing assignments), and other as needed.  Both the Learning Center  (SCI 151) and the Skills Center (SCI 240) are staffed with student learning assistants who are available one on one to help students become successful in their course work.  Contact the Learning Assistance Program, Room 151, Sciences Building for a schedule of available times.

Subsequently, students should:

  • Provide to The Learning Center, your current test records (MFE) and/or medical records verifying your disability.
  • Contact the Testing Center (995-8476) to schedule and take COMPASS (academic skills assessment placement test).
  • Schedule to attend the College Orientation where you will meet with an advisor to schedule classes.
  • Meet with the Learning Center Director to discuss prescribed accommodations.
  • Attend the Learning Center Disability Services orientation.

Besides working with students on course-specific topics, the learning assistants are available to guide students in strategies and techniques for being a successful college student.  Learning assistants can help in many ways, such as learning new ways to prepare for and take tests, finding out how to get the most out of classroom lectures, or discovering effective ways to manage time.

*Individualized tutoring for qualified  students is available by contact the Learning Center Director, David Reedy, at (419) 995-8049.
