Current or Former Military?

Am I eligible to receive educational funding through the Montgomery GI Bill?  If one of the following three links seem to match your situation, then you may be!

  1. I have served on Active Duty

Chapter 30 - Members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and commissioned officers of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric  Administration and Public Health Service

  1. I enlisted or entered active duty for the first time on or after July 1, 1985
  2. I have served at least 2 consecutive years of active duty in the US military
  3. I paid in the required $100 for 12 months during my tour
  4. I was honorably discharged less than 10 years ago

Chapter 31 - Rehabilitation for Veterans with Service-Connected Disabilities

  1. I received, or will received, a discharge other than dishonorable conditions
  2. I incurred or aggravated a service-connected disability on or after September 16, 1940, which entitles me to VA disability income

  1. I am serving in the Selected Reserves

Chapter 1606 - Selected Reservists

  1. I enlisted, re-enlisted, or extended an enlistment in the Selected Reserve for a period of not less than six years on or after July 1, 1985
  2. I have received a secondary school diploma or equivalent before completing Initial Active Duty Training (IADT), or before completing a reenlistment or extended enlistment
  3. I have completed IADT
  4. I am satisfactorily participation in required training the Selected Reserve.

Chapter 35 - Child of a veteran

  1. I am at least 18 years old, or if under 18, have completed secondary school or its equivalent, and am less than 31 years old
  2. My parent has either
    • permanent and total service-connected disability
    • died as the result of a service-connected disability
    • died while totally and permanently service-connected disabled
    • died in the line of duty while a service member

Chapter 35 - Spouse of a veteran:

  1. My spouse has either
    • a permanent and total service-connected disability
    • died while totally and permanently service-connected disabled
    • died in the line of duty while a service member
