How to View a Web Presentation
Here at Rhodes State College we use a program called MediaSite Live to record and display recorded presentations
on the Web. You must first have the most current version of the Windows Media Player installed on your computer. This
video player is available free from http://www.windowsmedia.com/9series/download/download.asp.
You will first download the MPSetup file to your computer. Then you will double click the file to actually install the player program.
Most instructors have the links to their webcast presentations inside their WebCT courses. After you click the
link to a presentation, a screen similar to the one shown below should appear.

Here you will click the link at the top of the screen that corresponds to your connection to the Internet. If
you connect to the Internet with a product like Road Runner, you will choose the Broadband link. If you connect to the Internet
using telephone lines, you will choose the Dial-up link. A screen similar to the one shown below should appear.

- The top left of the new screen displays the instructor video/presentation.
- Below the video display screen is the time display toolbar. The time shown at the far right of this bar is the total time of this presentation. To the left of the total time is the elapsed time, the current time in the presentation.
- The blue slider bar below the time toolbar allows you to drag the bar to the left and right to fast forward and rewind the presentation. When you drag the round button to the left or right, the presentation buffers and then plays again when it reaches your selected time.
- Below the slider bar is the presentation toolbar. Reading from left to right above the buttons are
- Play. Resume playing a presentation once it has been stopped or paused.
- Pause. Stops the presentation and keeps it at the current time. Clicking the play button will resume the presentation from the current time.
- Stop. Stops the presentation. Clicking the play button will start the presentation from the beginning.
- Stats. Technical statistics for the presentation file.
- Full. The video display area takes up the entire computer screen (may look grainy). Press the Esc key to return to the regular display.
- Volume. Click the middle of this button to turn off the sound in the presentation, or click the plus and minus signs to the right of the button to turn the volume up and down. Remember that you will need to have speakers or headphones connected to your computer to hear the presentation. Not all of our presentations have sound. Check with your course instructor to be sure.
