Web Browser Settings for WebCT CE 4
We are using WebCT Campus Edition version 4. You will have the most success (and least frustration) using the following settings:
- Browsers--Internet Explorer version 7.0 and above or Mozilla Firefox
- Install Java--Java may be downloaded for free from Sun Java at http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp. Follow the on-screen information for downloading and installing the Java software.
- Enable Java--if you use Netscape, you will need to enable Java:
- Select Edit then choose Preferences
- Select Advanced from the left pane
- Click a checkmark in Enable Java and Enable JavaScript
- Click OK to finish
- Enable Cookies--
- In Internet Explorer choose Tools and Internet Options
- Click the Security tab and choose the Medium security level
- Click OK to save these settings OR
- In Netscape click the Edit menu and choose Preferences
- Click the arrow to the left of Privacy & Security and then click Cookies
- Select Edit then choose Preferences
- Click on the arrow next to Privacy & Security in the left-hand pane and then select Cookies
- Select Enable cookies for the originating website only
- Click OK
- Disable Pop-up Stoppers--many
WebCT screens open in pop-up windows. You will need to turn
these programs off. You may also have to change settings in
some antivirus programs so new screens will open.
- Plug-Ins--these programs
are used to run special types of media inside WebCT courses.
Go to the
WebCT Browser Tune-up page to install special plug-in
programs. It would not hurt to download and install all six
of the plug-ins listed on this page.
