The Web Programming / Computer Programming Associate Degree program prepares students for immediate employment as a business programmer.  Many students continue their education toward a four-year degree as an Application Systems Software Engineer using the 2+2 year opportunity accepted by most universities.  Those choosing to pursue a four-year degree generally focus on a career in either business programming or games programming.

Students begin by learning basic computer concepts, then advance to learn the entire spectrum of information systems analysis and design through completed programming and implementation.  Students are exposed to traditional business programming as well as the most advanced programming languages and environments.  Classes are a combination of lecture and hands-on computer lab experience.

Programmers are employed in almost every industry, but the largest concentration is in the computer and data processing services industry, which includes firms that write and sell software. Large numbers of programmers can also be found working for firms that provide engineering and management services, telecommunications companies, manufacturers of computer and office equipment, financial institutions, insurance carriers, educational institutions, and government agencies.   The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Web Programming/Computer Programming prepares the student to work as a computer operator, computer programmer and with experience may become a software engineer, systems analyst or information system administrator.  The average salary for graduates is $30,000 to $40,000

Candidates for the Associate of Applied Science Degree must meet all curriculum requirements as outlined in the curriculum models with a GPA of at least 2.00 and a minimum of 90 credit hours to a maximum of 110 credit hours completed in the program area. Credits transferred from other institutions will be subject to evaluation on a course-by-course basis. In some instances, students who have been absent from the College for more than one regular quarter (excluding summer) may have technical credits which will be re-evaluated on an individual basis. Each program is designed with required technical courses, in which, students must maintain a 2.00 average or better to progress to graduation. To obtain divisional certificates, students must earn a grade of “C” or better on all listed courses or receive authorization from program chair and division dean.
